Hi reddit! AMA about about how our stainless steel cookware is made!
I'm Bill. I’ve worked at All-Clad at our Canonsburg, PA factory, for 47 years. As VP of product development and technology, I still spend most of my time on the factory floor. On Thursday I'll be answering questions about how our cookware is made.
I’ll be joined by Nicole, Senior Research Engineer of product development and technology. Together we test new materials and designs before they ever reach production.
Some things we're happy to get into:
- Layers and cores - how they’re bonded, and what each one does
- D3 vs D5 vs Copper Core vs Graphite
- Flatness, warping and lid fit
- Compatibility with induction and glass top stoves
Anything else about the factory or the process is fair game too.
- Bill and Nicole
(p.s. Thank you to the mods and all of you for having us!)
