Hi, I'm Dr. Tara Strauch, the Paul L. Cantrell Associate Professor of History at Centre College. I write and teach about American Girl — the company, the stories and the people who love the brand.

I'm so excited for this AMA! Ask me whatever you want, but I am especially excited to answer questions about:

  • The dolls and stories in the historical collection
    • Especially questions about the history within these stories
  • The history of the brand
  • The memes and other cultural uses of American Girl

I will be answering questions on October 1, 2026 from 2 p.m. EDT to 4 p.m. EDT.
