Hi Reddit! I'm a former state legislator who spent 8 months with an AI co-writer putting together a 2,000-page legislative package, the POPULIST Act, and now I'm testing whether voters can collectively bargain with Congress to pass it in 2026. Ask me anything!

Hi Reddit, I'm Brian, and the truth is this: most of the policy problems in the United States could be solved by Congress, if only they would act. The problem is motivating them, so I'm running an experiment in 2026—prepackaging solutions and asking voters across all 470 Congressional races to join me in demanding Congress pass the POPULIST Act by October 30. If they do, we can help them keep their jobs; if they refuse, we can kick them out of power.

I assembled the 13 titles of the POPULIST Act with the help of an AI co-writer, who I call Mike. If you've heard anything about AI, it's that they know how to code, and America runs on the millions of lines of the United States Code. Of course, I supervised Mike's work; I've been working with legislation for 20 years, and I guided the policy decisions as we took on concentrated corporate and government power.

Here's some of what the POPULIST Act would do:

  • establish universal health care and publicly manufacture essential medicines;
  • defeat the national debt with a jubilee and upgrade the money and banking system;
  • restrict Wall Street ownership of homes and invest in more housing;
  • address gerrymandering and corporate money in elections;
  • regulate artificial intelligence and strengthen digital privacy;
  • end government shutdowns and ban Congress from trading stocks;
  • establish 18 weeks of paid family leave;
  • break up concentrated power in health care, banking, media and Big Tech;
  • establish national right-to-repair protections;
  • strengthen Fourth Amendment protections and restrict AI surveillance;
  • guarantee an unconditional basic income;
  • expand energy production and transmission while addressing PFAS and other pollution; and
  • reform the criminal justice and immigration systems.

Ask me anything about the POPULIST Act, collective bargaining for voters, my experience working with AI, serving in the state legislature, how high I think Congress's approval rating would get if they passed this, or anything else.

I'll start answering at 11am ET today and will respond to as many questions as possible.
