[Crosspost] I am the first Member Nominated Candidate seeking Election to the Board of the world's largest building society, Nationwide (UK), in over 20 years. Ask Me Anything!

As a mutual, Nationwide Building Society is owned by its Members, and Member engagement is essential to making this work in practice.

This year, for the first time since 2005, 9.3 million Nationwide Members have an alternative candidate to vote for ahead of the Annual General Meeting on 15th July 2026.

This is the largest democratic exercise (by size of electorate) in the UK since the Brexit referendum.

Nationwide Members can vote by post or online. Voting is now open, and forms must be competed and returned to Civica Election Services (the "independent scrutineer") by 10.30am on 13th July 2026.

Alternatively you can attend the Virtual-only AGM and cast your vote at the meeting.

This is an opportunity for anyone to engage in direct, open dialogue on the issues that matter most to them.

Suggested topics include:

  • Building societies and their governance
  • What it means to be a Nationwide Member
  • The "Fairer Share" payment paid to a minority of Nationwide Members
  • This year's election - how it works, and my experience to date
  • Why Member representation - and mutuals - matter
  • The future direction of Nationwide Building Society

Or any question you'd like to ask me about my candidacy!
